    [Compose World 2]

    Compose World 2 is a new version of the popular Compose World program. It extends the ideas of Compose World to provide a versatile musical composition toolbox.

    For example, in Compose World Junior only one line of music, or track, can be created. In Compose World 2 many tracks can be created and played at the same time and these tracks can contain music from a variety of sources, such as:

  • Compose World files
  • MIDI files
  • Rhythm Maker files

    • Using the available phrases a tune is made by sequencing the phrases in the tracks. Melody, harmony and rhythm can be mixed to form a complex tune. [Compose World 2]
    [Compose World 2] The phrases can be displayed in a variety of ways including Stave notation
    Phrases can be created and edited in the Compose World 2 grid editor. [Compose World 2]
    A large number of effects are available for manipulating the musical phrases as well as compositional tools to help with harmony and exploring other musical ideas and structures:
  • Tempo controls over overall playback
  • Advanced Volume controls for fades and crescendos
  • Volume mixer for individual tracks
  • Effects such as transpose, reverse, invert, stereo, etc.

    The program provides an ideal resource for music exploration, composition and performance for a wide range of ages and abilities and it supports the music curriculum for both Primary and Secondary education.

    Release Information

    Compose World 2 (1.30) is currently available. Latest features include:

  • Saving the composition as a MIDI file so that they can be used with multimedia packages and Web pages.
  • The ability to use digital samples as phrases.
  • Printing the composition in any of the available styles.
  • A recording facility for MIDI keyboard input.
  • New project files
  • Better support for rests, instruments and rhythms
